The trip to Russian Mission was a blast! I found it to be a wonderful community filled with friendly, helpful people and little puppy dogs. I enjoyed the people, learning some about the Yup'ik culture, ice fishing, snowmachining, and just viewing the landscape. This visit was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I'm rather glad I took!
Teaching in the village was a wonderful experience. The students were full of energy... well maybe not first thing in the morning, but neither am I... inquisitive, and just all around enjoyable to work with. Students had a wide range of ability levels, which of course required some creative differentiation. In the end I think everyone learned something about chemistry, and had fun too!
